Sydney Metro opens in the first half of 2019 in the booming North West region of Sydney. Between Rouse Hill and Chatswood there will be 13 metro stations. Metro rail extends from the North West into the Sydney CBD and beyond to Bankstown in 2024.
The $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest project is Stage 1 of the new Sydney Metro railway system. It includes 13 railway stations and 4,000 commuter car parking spaces. Sydney’s new generation of metro trains will run every four minutes in the peak – that’s 15 trains an hour. Customers won’t need a timetable, they will just turn up and go. Services start in the first half of 2019 and metro rail will be extended into the Sydney CBD in 2024. Sydney Metro will deliver a reliable public transport service to the North West region of Sydney, which has the highest private car ownership levels per household in Australia. Over the coming decades, an extra 200,000 people will move into Sydney’s North West, taking its population above 600,000, or twice the size of Canberra.
